Thanks for the thoughts on this - I'm not in a hurry to do a TA delete, I'm just trying to find the lowest cost way to get the tractor shifting. I use it primarily as a loader and the binding problem requires that I slip it out of gear while still moving ( a good trick when trying to take a big scoop!) Looking through the inspection plate the TA Clutch is completely rusted and frozen. I'm fully willing to change it, I was just concerned that I'd spend the money on it and then still be looking at a TA rebuild.
When I had the tractor split at the engine clutch, the rear half would roll back. just fine After I recoupled it and made sure the engine clutch was disengaging properly, it would no longet roll back even with the clutch pushed in. You can hear a metallic click and it just locks up. Does that tell you anything? Thanks
