I was under the impression that tel-a-depth was only a position control system and the draft control was a separate mechanical component of the hitch (controlled by the lever with the clicks on the left side).
By position control I mean the relative position of the lever in its operating range was representative of the cylinder's stroke position. In theory you could put the cylinder to the same position any time without a mechanical cylinder stop, and were able to temporarily bypass the setting with only the movement of the lever instead of getting off the tractor to fiddle with a stop clamp. This is done with a special hydraulic valve in the valve bank and a feedback linkage connected to the rockshaft. The valve and feedback linkage act like a 3 way household switch and 2 kids playing lights on lights off, only with fluid instead of electrons.
