As promised: a quick update to let you know that the front main seal is out of my SA. A large bearing separator and a bit of patience. The pulley hub does not seem to have a groove that corresponds to the old seal, but does appear slightly flared at the end that is closest to the motor. I have a replacement seal and a bunch of gaskets on the way and will check it against the new seal for fit. The old seal was toast.
Thanks again, this has always been a great sight. i feel a bit guilty to swoop in and grab info but the farm has grown a bit and I just don't find the time to post as much as I used to.
