Never get rid of an original starter if at all possible. Have it repaired. You will never get an original back. Some of those rebuilts have been off and on so many machines with all differnt kinds of parts , machined ends of shafts for undersize bushings, you name it. I have had so many guys bring a starter in for a minor repair but it was a rebuilt so could not find proper parts. Those armatures have been cut down so many times there is no material left on them. Some have resoldered bars which rarely work out for long. A couple hundred dollars to repair one like that is not all that bad.
