The lower end is under full pressure all the time. There are no cam bearings, the block or cam could go bad but I have not seen that happen. The pressure regulator in the bump could be stuck part way open allowing thinner oil when warm to bypass the gallery. (strong possibility) The valve gear is lubed by spurts of oil from a cam bearing through a drilling to the top. usually not an issue with pressure. The mains and rod bearings could be loose and that would cause low pressure. Use plastigauge brand clearance checking methods to determine the status of the lower end. .0015 to .003" are OK clearances. Jim
