Another Legislator has proposed/suggested changing the annual opener to a Saturday instead of the 15th. As far as I know, nothing has happened. This seems to come up every few years with a newly elected Representative who thinks he has come up with a new idea. So far, it keeps getting shot down.

"The reversal coincides with legislation introduced by State Rep. Kevin Cotter, R-Mount Pleasant.

Cotter’s bill, HB 4259, changes opening day to the second or third Saturday of November, whichever is closest to Nov. 15. Cotter reintroduced a bill that gained no ground last year."
