On p51 mustangs (the ww 2 fighters we refurbish) we use hockey tape, the clear stuff you put around your shin pads that you buy at sports store for a couple of bucks for 5 rolls. The stuff lasts for years and where the parts overlap you can peel it off and no residue and the paint is mint. There is a higher grade mylar tape made just for that purpose but costs alot more and does the same thing. I've had it on my 706 for 6 years.
