Stuart; you would be happy if you could find a balanced-head sickle mower. The have a belt instead of wood pitman arm powering the sickle. This feature allows you to mow above and below horizontal - great for ditch mowing and even trimming tree branches that encroach on fields over the years. Finding one isn't a 'simple task'.
IH made a sickle mower that bolts/clamps onto the drawbar. A pitman arm fast-hitch mower will be more common to find, but not just any fast-hitch mower is compatible to the tractor...hhmm, how would I know this? Good luck w/your search.
