The dealers all had a selection of tool boxes that mounted on the frame or on the PTO shield. Some of those tool boxes had a place on the lid where the individual dealer could attach a small decal with HIS name, etc. The vast majority of the Hs and Ms around when I was growing up all had either the frame mounted tool box, or an owner inspired and adapted tool box that mounted on either the frame or on the rear of the tractor somewhere. These tool boxes were greatly favored because of the ease of access and also because they held MORE tools.
I never even knew about the light bar mounted tool boxes until just a few years ago. Apparently those were very impractical, and no one wanted one. My fathers H had a "Fordson" tool box mounted on the PTO shield, and I remember an M that had a "Case" tool box mounted in the same place. I think the Case tool box was salvaged from a Case, horsedrawn hay rake.
