I agree the 282-D had a lousy oil cooler on it,and as oil pressure is greater tham water pressure the oil would go to the cooling system when it got a rusted out spot in the oil cooler.
Another word of caution: Never but NEVER add cold water to a IHC 282-D when it is hot, even with the motor running.Blam cracked head !!! also let it run at idle a few before shuting down to cool.
