Don't have a diesel tach to look at, but from what I remember the face on the gas and diesel was the same if both had a T/A and IPTO. Would have to figure it up, but it may have to do with the RPM the tachs are driven at. Diesel drives from the rear of the generator through a gear box. Gas goes from the distributor drive. Don't know if the gear box on the diesel generator is geared to match the same RPM as a gas tach cable would turn, or the calibration of the tachs are different. There was more than one tach for both models depending on transmission or PTO type.
Only remember one set of gears on the diesel tach drive box, think that would make the gas and diesel tach cables turn the same way.
