Well, if the points are open, it should do absolutely nothing as there is no closed circuit and no electrons move. If the points are closed, it will heat up the coil, for sure. Whether that makes it fire up better is beyond me.
Remember, cold wires conduct better than hot wires. Hence superconductors exist at very low temperatures, and lit bulbs have higher resistance than cold, unlit bulbs. So the only positive effect would have to be on the coil, not the wires.
