I don't recall if the F20 has an updraft carb or not. If it does, the carb is bolted on UNDER the intake manifold, in which case any excess gas runs on the ground. If it's a downdraft, with the carb mounted above the manifold, and the float stuck or the needle valve didn't seat, it is possible that the carb could flood while sitting, and raw gas run into the manifold, past an open valve, by the rings and into the crankcase. My F14 has a fuel pump on it, as the carb inlet is higher than the tank outlet, but I always shut the gas off when I'm done for the day anyway. Just a habit, but I think it's a good one...so long as you remember to turn it back ON when you're ready to start it next time...":^) As far as checking for problems in this area, open the petcock on the oil pan and drain a little into a can. If you're getting any significant amount of gas in it, you'll be able to tell by the odor. If you're not sure, change the oil, it's cheap insurance.
