A few weeks ago I did the trany oil thing on my 1953 Super C. I got lots of advice on this site saying not to use Hy Tran or any other transmision type fluid.I used Case 85/140 gear oil and it quited my transmission down a lot plus did away with some slight gear grinding I had when shifting from forward gears to reverse. There is a plug on the right hand side of the tranny just behind the axel at about the same level that the oil will drip from when it's full. Mine held about a cup less than 5 gal.Don't be surprised if some water runs out with the old stuff you drain. Mine was just thick and nasty but my dads C had about a gallon of water in it and what looked like auto tranny fluid in it that was to thin and leaked from the axel seals. What a mess. The old oil might work to slick back your hair and 5 gal should be a life time supply. Have fun.
