On the Cub, your major limiting factor is your battery box (if you have one). This will limit the dimensions of the batteries that will work. 500 cranking amps is more than enough.

In order to keep you battery from going bad over time if it is not used you have several options. The simplest is to use the tractor more often. Take her outside and just let her run...it is good for the engine and battery. Otherwise you can buy a trickle charger and just keep that on it at all times.
