This is a result of the very poor gas we now get. I am guessing you have the F&H style manifold that does not have the pre heater for intake. The gas back then was also poor, and keroscene needed the pre heater. The model T ford had this problem, and it was solved by a pipe from the intake of the carburator to an area near the exhaust manifold, which would allow warm air to be drawn in to the carburator, to stop the icing. I dont know if this will help, just a suggestion.
