ok confession time phil, i have actually pulled the top of the tranny off my 51 c thinking i had terrible tranny trouble when it was just the front wheel bolts that had loosened and were clunking when the tractor was driven ... terrible popping noise ... and i almost tore a "nut" loose myself trying to pull and replace that stupid cover. so the moral of this story is ... check the STUPID stuff first...you gave good advise as always and i appreciate the help you have given me as well.
