New fan assemblies with sealed bearings are available for around $70.00. I put one on a SC and have been been very happy with it. I did dissassemble the failed fan hub and decided not to rebuild it.
On my C I filled the fan assembly with WD40 and let it run out, several times, till it was clear. Then filled with 30W motor oil. It works great now and quieted it right down.
