Exhaust pipe comes through on the right side of hood on a diesel. Diesel uses a bigger diameter oil filter than what seen in the photo, plus it looks like a gas. Cast brake housings can be seen pretty good in the lower photo with 5 bolt mounting. All M except the last month or two built used steel brake covers or a add on disc brake attachment that used 3 bolt mounting. Housing between engine and transmission is made for a belley pump hydraulic system and is shorter than a SMTA one. If the serial # is readable a Super will have the letter F or L before the serial #. Block should have C 264 in raised cast letters above oil filter housing.
