My 1945 B has the cast shift knob. It has the old IHC logo on it with the numbers 9637D stamped/cast into it.
I've never taken mine off but I understand that the WWII knobs were threaded on.
Oddly my 1945 H has the rubber shift knob, no threads. Must have been built far enough apart that there was no longer the rubber shortage or IH used up all it's cast shift knobs.
If you're wanting to purchase one they occasionally show up on eBay. Otherwise your best bet is walking the salvage yards.
