Paul, Many tractors have both 1000 and 540 RPM power takeoff capabilities. Typically, you just remove the existing pto and plug the replacement shaft in in its place. The tractor is designed that when the 540 shaft is installed it turns at 540 and when the 1000 rpm shaft is installed it turns at 1000 revs when the engine speed is running at the pto drive range on the tach. I would think your tractor is so equipped but my familiarity with the 1466 is limited. Probably someone that is knowledgeable with your particular tractor will post an exact answer.
