The C takes about 3 quarts. Do not over-fill the unit. It is supposed to be about 1/2 inch below the fill opening. The system does NOT have a vent system so as the fluid heats up it expands. If there is no air space in the unit it will blow one of the "freeze" plugs. The other thing could be an oil bath when you loosen the fill plug. Take my word for this one. Use a good hydraulic oil. I get mine from TSC.
