an M will have dramatically more traction than the SH. My guess is that if it is not making noise, and if you had it on dry ground and locked one wheel to make a pivot turn, and no bad things happened, that it is fine. They have never had limited slip differentials or posi of any type. Nor have I heard of any after market kits to do so. Differential locks are found on later tractors only. Jim
