The older T6's did use the same engine, C248, as the M. I'm not sure when the change was made but I have a 1948 T6 with the C248.
There is a difference between the M and T6 blocks, however. The crawler block can accomodate a cam actuated fuel pump where as the M does not. Hope this helps.
