I have an IH 1456 tractor that has always been an excellent cold weather starter. A few days ago, I tried to start the tractor on a 60 degree day and couldn't get it to fire. I gave it a small shot of ether and when it fired it made a loud "clunking" noise before starting. When it did start, it ran fine and sounded perfect. I tried to start it a few hours later and had to give it ether again with the same result. I have used ether on it before and it never made that kind of sound in the past.
The fuel has always leaked a bit from the tubes on the injection pump so I have been shutting off the fuel under the tank whenever I turn the tractor off. It does seem to be leaking more than usual though lately.
