Ok I'll guess your carb kit didn't have good instruction and you do not have a manual either am I right?? Ok any how the way I do it most of the time is this. The idle screw which is close to the top where it bolts to the manifold I set at 1.5 turns out and since I almost never run one at idle I leave it that way and I set the main jet at 3 turns out. Then from there you have to adjust if for where you live. I.E. a carb set to run where I live will not run well in Denver CO. A good kit will give you instructions as to how to set one up so it is close before you bolt it on. Plus on this type carb you have to get the gov. in sink with the carb so the manual is almost a have to have thing
