Tim - There should be 2 fuel strainers that require attention:
1 - The sediment bowl strainer. It's a round screen fitted between the glass bowl and the gasket. (Sometimes this screen goes missing...)
2 - The carburetor inlet strainer. This is small tubular screen attached to the backside of the fuel inlet nut. It can be removed by disconnecting the fuel line at the carb then unscrewing the large hex fitting (the fuel inlet nut) behind it.
After cleaning both screens and before reconnecting the fuel line, suggest draining a cup or two of fuel thru the open fuel line to flush out any rust, etc. that might be in the line. Also if you can get the drain plug out from the bottom of the carb bowl, remove it, turn the gas on and let a cup or two of fuel flush thru the bowl then replace the plug.
