sflem849, The vice grips works good on that curved rod to keep your #8 from wagging when traveling down the road. One other real simple remedy is to lower the plow (to just above dragging the bottoms on the rosd) and then I can run my H in 5th gear wide open and no wagging. It's a fine line with that low setting....a notch or two higher and it will wag so much it's scary. But you have to remember the plow is set very low when you enter a field or you hear some awful noises if one of the wheels drops into a depression while on concrete or blacktop.
The purpose of that tail wheel assembly is to slightly lift the rear bottom to decrease friction and also to keep some pressure on the landside to keep it about 1/4" off the furrow wall. You set that correctly and the plow pulls much easier. My operator's manual describes this in detail.
