The points are set at .013" that will probably make a difference, as the mag internal timing is as important as engine timing. If set to .015, the opening will be early and primary winding mag coil saturation will be incomplete. Set it to .013 and try it. Also if no success, put the distributor back on to see if the issue goes away. Mags do not have centrifugal advance, so there will be roughness issues that are cured with a point/coil system. Point and coil was (I believe) an option so it would be considered stock. Jim
