With fire crater pistons, a new shaft and springs always came in the overhaul pkg for a 22degree advance in the IH distributor. It had a template and all to mark pulley, 1 and 7/16 before tdc on pulley. If you had a magneto, they released a special impulse coupling to achive that result with magneto also. You will not want to stay with a 40 degree advance. With todays gasoline even 22 is pushing it on a heavy load. .
