The patient: A NON-SHEDDED '49 Farmall M with Delco 10si 3-wire alt, neg. ground 12v conversion. No shed because I haven't got one... yet.
I've got the alternator apart to replace the internal regulator, which went belly-up due to the PO's bad wiring. There's a lot of rust in there, particularly on the terminals of the regulator, brushes, and resistor; secondarily on the terminals of the rectifier and the diode trio.
WITHOUT getting into a genny/alternator argument, has anyone:
1) had any experience with this?
2) Made a solution for this?
3) not experienced it but has a suggestion for it?
I'm hoping for something more elegant than "fab a sheetmetal cover for it", but I don't know if dielectric grease will hold up under all-weather conditions.
