George if you had replaced the thermostat, I would suspect the radiator is the culprit. First of all remove the front grill. Stick a light behind the radiator in various spots and see if you can see through. The tubes might be packed with dirt between them not allowing good airflow. My Grandpa's H was like that a few years back. We hosed out a ton of dirt and have had no problems since. If it looks pretty good between the tubes, then you might have to take it to a radiator shop for a boil and pressure test.
