The hood doesn't seal--any leaking air is forced out, no other air gets in. A disadvantage of Hobby Air is that the air gets warm. Not a problem for painting because painting time is relatively short. Might be a problem if you have a high capacity sand blaster. Mine is small and I spend more time filling it than I do blasting. The Tyvec hood is fine for blasting. I put an extension the blaster wand that keeps me out of the way of the sand. No problems in 8 years, off and on, with the unit I have. Except that the hose is rather cumbersome. The air compressor hose and the supplied air hose tend to get tangled up.
