Richard is right, it depends on what you want to do. There is a huge difference in the capabilities of a 706 and a 340. If you want to make/handle round bales, pull a large rotary cutter (10'+), or pull a 12-15' wheel disk, or use a front end loader, the 706 is a good tractor for the money (hydraulic T/A and brakes, better hydraulics, 8F/4R transmission, etc.) If you want to pull a small cutter (5-7'), till small fields/gardens, or pull a square baler, the 340 is more than adequate. I have a 706D (which I like a lot), also have a 330 utility for the small stuff.
