Takes about 5 minutes to take it off. If its crud I put a plug in the outlet, put about a gallon of solvent (I use carb dip)in it and strap it to an old tire and haul it around in the bed of my pickup for a week. Powerwash it out, let it dry and reinstall. For the bad ones I put in pieces of old chain and large hex nuts, solvent and shake that around good then use a fuel tank coating like red coat (follow their cleaning and prep procedure to the letter). Some radiator shops can clean and line them for you too.
