Farmall 300 clutch out?

While mowing ditch banks with Farmall 300 and MC 27-V sickle bar mower, a terrible noise came from the tractor and the clutch wouldn't disengage completely. Fortunately this all happened in the right place instead of the wrong place as usual! This was the end of a hot day and I ran it back to the shed and parked it. What should I look for when I get back at it? ps Tractor is 10 miles away. First time asking for help, thanks in advance. George.
