You have gotten some good responses to your thread already and probably can't add much. I do have a Farmall M with the Heisler 9 speed so know a little about them. The lever I believe without looking on my M is mounted on the top transmission cover in the forward left corner. It has a rod attached which enters the side of the transmission under the battery box. When the lever is forward you have the additional faster speeds and when in the rear position you have the normal gear speeds the tractor was designed with. Another point you need to know, if it is a Heisler 9 speed is that the PTO and the belly pump are also sped up and probably quite easy to over speed them as they weren't designed for excessive rpms. My M has a belly pump disconnect lever on the right side of the tractor so you can disconnect the hydraulic pump when running with the higher speeds. I really like the Heisler and it looks a whole lot like something which would have come from the factory, Hal.
