The horsepower ratings on these old tractors were based on drawbar horsepower; i.e. actual usuable horsepower, after energy has been lost in friction and inertia of the various tranny parts. Nowadays, engines are rated by their flywheel horsepower which is a whole heck of alot different. One Cub owner claimed that his 10 horse Cub was equivalent to a 20 horsepower modern tractor. While I think estimate is a bit exaggerated, the idea is correct. Nevertheless, I'd hesitate to put a post-hole digger on a Cub. For that matter, I'd hesitate to put any powered equipment on a Cub, except for a small mower deck or any of the equipment originally designed for it. Just my thoughts and opinions. Chris Bean
