Well #1 that is what the sediment bowl and screen is made for. I have a D-17 that has that problem and has for years and I never have much problem with it if I empty the sediment bowl about once a day when I'm working it. Things you can do are take a hand full of say 1/2 inch nuts and drop them in and shake the heck out of the tank then flush. Make sure you count how many went in so you know you get them all back out. Also giving it a meratic (sp) acid flush can some times help but if it is real thin it also might open up a hole. Or you could line it
