The board needs to be about two and one-half feet long, three-fourths of an inch thick, and six inches wide. It's customary for the end to be rounded. About two-thirds of the way back on the side toward the tractor a round stick is mounted angled about fifteen degrees out from the board and fifteen degrees up from horizontal to sort of fold the edge of the swath over on top of itself.
