I used the Hitachi 14231 alternator along with the original H generator mounting bracket and didn"t even have to change from the original generator belt. I thought it was a very simple change and you have significant clearances for adjustment with out touching the valve cover or the hood. I wouldn"t even consider trying to make a Delco 10SI work after how easy the Hitachi installation was. I bought a rebuilt Hitachi alternator at the auto parts store for $50 plus a $10 core charge since I didn't have an exchange. The 14231 was used on the 1978 - 1980 Nissan 620 and 720 pick-up trucks with a 2 liter engine and maybe other models as well. The Delco 10SI works fine on a Farmall M but is just too big to "fight with" on the H unless you are determined to make it work and use one. Hope this helps, Hal.
