I left the belt pulleys (entire drive not just pulley itself) off my three tractors. Made a plate to fit. Much easier to get in and take a peek at transmission if need be and the real reason I left them off is that I got tired of squeezing between them and tire when you work on tractor. If you have a tractor like a 400 or 450 with the larger fuel tank the pulley drive is a real pain to get off. Did that for 50 years now on customers tractors. No, I am not a big guy, 160 lbs max.
