you may have issues with the current C87 and a common 7/8 inch socket. the current design has the hex too short for socket clearance in the head holes. 3/8 drive or thinwall may work, however.
My customers that do not want Champion are having better socket fitment luck than the ACs with autolite 386 or 388 (tall hex) and NGK AB6 or AB7 (smaller 13/16 head). their issues may be due to a 1/2 inch drive socket having too thick of walls.
i like ACs too but if you can"t install them properly they do no good. hope you can make them work. karl f
