Looking at the diagram it sounds like you are talking about the Pivot Stud. If so, it should have an allen screw that needs to be removed. After that it says the following:
"Screw an adapter into the pivot stud, and remove the stud, using a slide hammer screwed into the adaptor."
It references an illustration which shows exactly that, with the additional notation "O.T.C. No. 960 Slide Hammer with M-17 Adaptor". If this is not what you are trying to remove just let me know and I will look further. I know nothing of slide hammers but if you look at the picture when you get your manual it doesn't LOOK tough...LOL.

I have checked the price on these pivot pins, $32.00-35.00 is there a lower price anywhere? Does anyone have the dimensions of the pivot pin? I have the machine to make the part, I know the price isn't that much, but I save where I can. I'm restoring 2 of these mowers, so I'll need 2 pins.
