"Tractor Vet" is on the right track but before going to the expense of an overhaul I would check out a couple things first. One would be check the the engine timing, may need tweaked a little. Other would be to be sure the starter is turning over fast enough, that would include checking out the battery cables, & etc.
Son & I bought a 1206 to restore a few years ago and anytime temps got under 50� it would take a snort of either to start. We retimed the engine which helped a little b ut found the main culprit to be the starting system. Ater having the starter rebuilt, put on new cables & replaced the relay & junction block under the steering wheel it starts up like new. Has to get well below freezing now before it needs a sniff.
