The hydraulics on my 1954 Super C tractor stopped working all of a sudden. I was just finishing attaching an implement with the fast hitch and it wouldn't come down from the up position. The touch control levers also stopped working.
I checked the hydraulic fluid level and it was about two inches low. There may be a small slow fluid leak (I had to take off the remote hydraulic control valve to get at the starter about a month ago and didn't have a new gasket). I tried adding fluid and moving the levers back and forth to get rid of air in the lines (which it says to do in the operators manual when putting in new hydraulic oil). I checked and cleaned the hydraulic oil strainer and put in new fluid. I took apart the hydraulic pump and looked at it and took apart the remote control valve and looked at it. Nothing has helped. In the process of moving the levers back and forth I noticed that the fast hitch cylinder did retract very slowly, so the hitch is now in the down position. It wont go back up at all. If you have any ideas or experience that would help it would be very much appreciated. Edmund
