give it a good looking over before you throw parts at it. first, check for a bent rim. get a 2x6 about a foot long or so and drive one frnt wheel up on it so the other spins. check for wobble or out of round. then do the other one. next, check the steering shaft from the steering wheel down to the bolster for excessive loose u- joints. then pull the cover off the top of the bolster and check the worm and sector gears for excessive wear. also check the bearing on the end of the steering shaft. you remove the end pipe plug to see it. from there, jack the front end up and shake the wheels side to side and look for worn bolster bushings. carter and gruenenwald has a complete rebuild kit for the bolster for about 150 dollars. yt here has new gears for the bolster too. if you gear is a full circle and not a half gear, you can remove it and turn it 180 degrees to get some better teeth.
