PTO questions

Have a 340 utility with tourque multiplier pto.Just orderd clutch for that would not disengage.Need to know what the shaft on side of pto box on back of tractor is for.Tracor has some field rigging done to it and am trying to get it all working again.Thanks in advance sorry for spelling not my best subject.
