As you said if it isn't broke don't fix it. Ya if you use a QT. of oil every hour or so you need to do something to it but if you get 10 plus hours from a QT. of oil run it. Oh and if you are running a multi weight oil you might switch to say a 30W or 40W for the summer and slow down the smoke but that might get you more mosquito
