As most tractor pulling asociations place a maximum pulling speed on the tractor during the contest, the 9-speed will have no effect on your available tractor speed. As Wardner said, the extra gears are between the stock 4th and 5th gear. The additional gears were primarily used for higher speed cultivating, some hay raking, and going home for lunch while staying out of 5th gear (16 mph at maximun engine speed). We are baling hay in the mornings and using a "M" to pull a New Holland rake. My son pulls the New Holland 500 baler with a new JD with stereo, air conditioning and CAB. I drive the M because I want to! Cheers Ray
